BCXSY (pronounced ‘/bi-k-see/’) = Boaz Cohen X Sayaka Yamamoto.
An Amsterdam-based, Dutch-Japanese design collective, founded in 2007.
The delicate, yet deliberate detail in their work is infused with subtle elements of surprise, wit and humor, which lend to its innately immersive quality.

Collaboration and interdisciplinary dialogue are fundamental to BCXSY’s creative approach, culminating in the studio's ability to design in a way that invites its audience to pause, connect and interact.

The studio is accomplished in providing their partners with representations of distinct perspectives and shared values, through personal and collective reflection. With an extensive archive from furniture, to wallpaper, and installations, BCXSY’s conceptual aesthetic remains rooted in emotion and human experience.

Sayaka Yamamoto

I love experimenting with colors and patterns whilst paying attention to the smallest details. Growing up in the Japanese countryside, the delicacy, hues, and peculiar motifs of nature provided me with a boundless source of inspiration.

My creative approach regularly combines these themes and influences, and I continued to evolve these aspects during my studies in fashion, jewelry and product design.

I have a passion for working with natural materials and designing bespoke patterns and two-dimensional designs such as wallpaper and carpets. But I also enjoy creating a variety of small objects and home accessories to enrich one’s daily life.

Boaz Cohen

The interdisciplinary approach of our studio is one of the things I cherish the most - it provides me with a seamless continuation of my passion for investigating new territories, reflecting on new challenges, and envisioning new possibilities.

As a child, I recall spending countless hours exploring my surroundings. I loved observing nature, as well as man-made creations. And was particularly drawn to the way individual things work, how they coincide, and the resulting image created through this coexistence.

Over time, my fascination with environments continued to grow, with new cultures, people and landscapes becoming an unlimited source of creativity.

I love conceiving and developing concepts, whilst experimenting with delicate balance between the big picture and the more subtle details.

I love the evolution of designing from concept to realization and am interested in the synergy between the creative aspects and the development process.

My studies in food design sparked a deep interest in the connection between consumer and product. And as a designer, it is my belief that this relationship should always be based on honesty and vitality.

I enjoy working with natural materials and I am both fascinated and inspired by new environments, cultures, nature, and organic processes.
