The design process started by diving into the exquisite Lobmeyr archives, browsing through a fascinating collection of crystal-ware created within almost two decades. Paying a special attention to the classic Biedermeier friendship tumbler, we have continued with the exploration of various decorative methods, including stone-wheel-cutting, engraving and sand-blasting.
The result is a set of matching tumblers, destined for two people sharing a special moment together.
The J & L tumblers are available in three variations – a plain set, featuring only the base-cut, a customized set, featuring two silhouettes, and a third set with an additional engraved ribbon-like pattern, which appears to flow between and connect the two tumblers.
The commission was a part of the acclaimed Passionswege project, in which the Vienna Design Week invites a selected group of designers to collaborate with local producers.
